Hosted alongside the College of Architecture Showcase and moderated by Texas A&M University President Susan Ballabina, this special Sesquicentennial Speaker Series conversation with Arch “Beaver” Aplin III ’80 will explore his entrepreneurial journey, his philosophy that every business is ultimately a hospitality business and the lessons he has learned while building a beloved brand from the ground up.
Join us for a candid discussion with three Texas A&M former students who didn’t just lead companies, they changed entire industries. From space exploration to candy and pet food, these Aggies — Stephanie Murphy ’00 ’14 (AEGIS Aerospace), Tyler Merrick ’00 (JOYRIDE) and Federico Muyshond ’03 (The Farmer's Dog) — are proof that bold ideas, backed by bold leadership, can be a force for good.
What does it take to go from competing in College Station to standing atop an Olympic podium? For Texas A&M legends Bryce Deadmon ’19, Breeja Larson ’14 and Shamier Little ‘17, the journey required extraordinary talent, relentless discipline and the determination to perform when the stakes were highest.
“Here for Good: Celebrating 150 Years of Texas A&M University” invites visitors on an immersive journey through the people, traditions and defining moments that have shaped Aggieland from a patch of prairie to its place as a global research leader. Remaining on display through May 16, 2027, this exhibit features key moments in time from across Aggieland.
Signature Exhibit
For the first time in university history, Family Weekend will feature a celebratory parade through campus with student organizations, college floats, community marching bands and more. The local community, former students, faculty, staff and students are invited to watch this historic procession led by the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band and the Corps of Cadets.

The official 150th anniversary celebration will conclude with an outdoor festival in and around Aggie Park, which is open to the public. The festival will feature carnival rides, games, live music, food vendors and Aggie product and apparel vendors.

The official kickoff of Texas A&M’s sesquicentennial celebration. The 150th anniversary was commemorated with remarks by leadership, along with performances celebrating Texas A&M’s rich history and traditions.

A special Fightin’ Texas Aggie Yell Practice was held at 9 p.m. in Kyle Field, followed by a one-of-a-kind drone show to kick off the sesquicentennial celebration.

Texas A&M celebrate’s 150th year with a sweet treat. Students, faculty and staff enjoyed complimentary ice cream cookie sandwiches and birthday cake at 12 locations across the College Station campus.
To kickoff the Sesquicentennial Speaker Series, Anthony Wood ’87 will sit down with Texas A&M University President Susan Ballabina for a conversation on entrepreneurship, innovation and the Aggie experience that helped shape his path. Wood will also share his perspective on Texas A&M’s next 150 years and the role Aggies can play in shaping what comes next.
